Amy Zuk

Title: Owner, CEO, Safety Instructor
Phone: 1-403-526-8400
Safety Buzz is Amy’s baby. When she first started up, Amy instructed, answered phones, maintained equipment, marketed and swept floors as a one woman show. Presently her business is thriving with 2 other partners, multiple staff and a large bank of loyal clientele. Amy is always up for a challenge which she demonstrated by opening a second location in Medicine Hat and most recently by becoming a John maxwell Certified Trainer.

Amy grew up on a farm in the Bonnyville area. Growing up, she helped her dad with his bobcat business. After high school, she worked in a sand cleaning plant where she was involved in everything from its construction to the operating phase. She then studied business at the University of Alberta where she specialized in marketing and human resources. After university, Amy worked as a scale operator, she then became a thermal operator for CNRL Wolf Lake and Primrose. After operating, Amy did some marketing for Bonnyville Welding before opening up Safety Buzz in 2005.

Amy continues to explore ways to build and expand Safety Buzz and herself personally. Amy is ecstatic to be a certified John Maxwell Certified speaker, coach and trainer. Core lessons are in Leadership, Team Building and Communication. She would absolutely love to be a presenter at your next event!

Dawn McMillan

Title: Owner and Chief Financial Officer
Phone: 1-780-573-2777
Also known as Shorty. Shorty is a born and raised Bonnyvillian, a bustling mother of three and an indispensable addition to the Safety Buzz team! After some begging, a bit of nagging and lots of harassing, Shorty agreed to rejoin the work force and commit to Safety Buzz.

Shorty grew up around the patch and even worked for her dad’s oilfield business in high school. She then attended Devry in Calgary where she earned her business degree. Shorty has also worked in a bank, at a newspaper and has extensive experience with invoicing and bookkeeping.

Shorty brings such fun energy with her wherever she goes and we’re always amazed at how smart she is when it comes to money matters. She’s already made some great improvements and is well on the way to having the “Safety Buzz” ship in tip top shape.

Sheldon Olsen

Title: Owner, COO and Safety Facilitator
Phone: 1-403-526-8400
Sheldon has been part of Safety Buzz a few years prior to becoming a partner. Being a jack of all trades Sheldon got to be a handy man helping to organize and do repairs after hours, and counselling Amy with many managerial/human resource questions. It was inevitable that Sheldon take on a more formal role and get compensated for his expertise.

Sheldon grew up Unity Saskatchewan. He is no stranger to this area as he has lived between here and Elk Point for about 15 years. Sheldon attended Lakeland College where he earned his Heavy Oil Operations Technician (HOOT) course. Majority of Sheldon’s career has been with CCS Corporation where he worked his way from operator, to lead operator and then manager. This experience has given Sheldon all kinds of past knowledge that benefits Safety Buzz in staff relations, course materials, and yes, keeping this machine well maintained.

Sheldon gets along well with everyone, he is easy going, but can crack the whip when needed. We love having him around. He keeps us giggling and makes sure Safety Buzz is a great place to both visit and work in.

Natasha Huber

Title: Accounts Payable & Recievable, Instructor
Natasha (or Tash) Is Safety Buzz’s Accounts Payable & Receivable & Instructor. She has mastered almost everything here at Safety Buzz. If you have any Questions involving: Quotes, On Sites, and Billing she is the one to ask. Above that Natasha is certified to teach Standard First Aid and preform Audiometric & Fit testing. Natasha’s out going nature has led her to be very valuable employee at Safety Buzz.

Barb Middagh

Title: Instructor
Barb keeps us all in line, but don’t think that means she is a stick in the mud. What a fun, dynamic, spunky lady! We are so fortunate to have Barb as our own. From being an avid cowgirl and working previously at Flint and Bonnyville Welding, not many work as hard as Barb in and away from the office. That really shines through in her work performance here at the Buzz!

Barb is a born and raised in Bonnyville gal, and she ain’t going anywhere. She has been a second mom to Amy forever, and after begging long enough Amy was able to sway Barb in to coming to Safety Buzz and being the mom while she is in Medicine Hat. What a great career change this turned out to be. Clients always leave Barbs courses raving. We hear comments like “That was such an awesome course, best one ever, Barb knows so much!” We all have to agree! What would the Buzz be without her?

Matthew Pearce

Title: Instructor
Matt is a brilliant yet laid back instructor. He makes everyone in class feel comfortable. Regardless of experience level Matt has a way to communicate the course material in a way that really sticks. Being an EMR Matt is a first aid guru. Once you sit in one of his classes you will know what we mean. This guy loves to dig out the regulations, be up to date and well informed on all industry matter. Matt has experience instructing all kinds of people. In Ontario, Alberta, and in BC he spent many years as an rock climbing instructor and guide, making him a fall protection pro! Years at Tim Horton's camps gives Matt that added patience and instructor skills we love so much. The oil and gas industry is something else Matt knows well. Safety Technician and Scaffolding are amongst the many things Matt has done in the patch.

Title: Safety Facilitator & Business Development
Always up for new challenges and willing to help out, Roxanne joined the Safety Buzz team in 2015. Students love to take her class as there is never a dull moment because she is fun, energetic and always smiling!

She is no stranger to hard work having grown up on a farm, working out in the field as a dispatcher, pipefitter, and on the rigs.

We are thrilled that Roxanne decided to re-join the workforce as an instructor, after spending some quality time raising her 3 kids.

You may see Roxanne around a little more as she has recently added sales to her already extensive list of accomplishments. Be sure to say Hi when you see her out about spreading the Buzz in the community.
